Q. It's a recurring pattern with Jesus, Buddha, prophets, Catholic/Orthodox saints, etc I still don't understand how does fasting enable a person to become a miracle worker.

A. Meditation is a part of the high level religious practice. In the Eastern practice, it's associated with other common routines such as body/spirit/mind purification, and reading sacred scripture. In the story of Buddha Siddhartha's culitvation, fasting didn't help him to reach enlightenment. Fasting is a mean to stop taking food (as probably un-pure) in high realm in order to keep the spirit and body stay pure for a period of time. Bathing is also a symbolic ritual to keep the body pure. Falun Gong was found in 1992 as a unique Buddhist school, teaching an ancient practice for the mind, body, and spirit, based upon the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance.
